Ever since his victory in 2014, Narendra Modi has been viewed with different degrees of wariness by the beautiful people who inherited India from the Raj. Apart from social disdain, their alienation from the politics of the three-term Prime Minister has invariably found reflection in the lament: “This is not the India I grew up in.”
